A welcoming and supportive place to relax and unwind

About Me

The pandemic was a turning point for many, giving a brief moment to press pause, reflect and re-evaluate. For me, it was no different.

I was in my late forties and perimenopause was my new companion. With fluctuating hormones and mood changes (the rage is real!), aching joints and anxiety, all while supporting two teenagers through remote working, I knew I needed to prioritise self-care.

Having stopped my role visiting care homes as a music leader, I realised what I loved the most from my previous roles (everything from advertising to healthcare and education), was getting to help others. A trip to a wellness centre and seeing the complementary therapists in their element, was the inspiration I needed.

So, I completed a Level 3 Diploma in Complementary Therapies, and it’s the best decision I made. Getting to learn a new skill, whilst helping others take that well needed step back really excited me.

Now, I look forward to offering you a welcoming and supportive place to relax and unwind.

Welcome to Little London Therapies.

Services

Reflexology is a holistic therapy that involves gentle pressure being applied to specific reflex points on the feet which correspond to different organs and structures of the body. It aims to bring about a state of relaxation and helps the body to restore its balance physically and emotionally. Reflexology cannot diagnose nor replace a medical assessment or treatment.

Reflexology may help you: release tension, relax, improve your mood, aid your sleep and promote a sense of wellbeing.

Reflexology can help support you through the menopause with carefully focused techniques. It is a non-invasive complementary therapy that may help ease the symptoms you are experiencing. It can also give you time to focus on you, to be listened to and understood, and time away from demands and responsibilities.

Facial reflexology focuses on reflex points on the face, which help balance the entire body and may reduce the effects of stress, improve circulation, relieve tension & congestion and ease mental strain. The treatment also has a rejuvenating effect on your skin, leaving you with a relaxed, rosy glow.

Swedish massage is a relaxing holistic treatment that uses several techniques including gentle strokes, kneading and rhythmic tapping to release muscle tension and aid relaxation. Pressure applied can be light, medium or firm.

Swedish massage may help you: reduce stress & anxiety, reduce muscle tension, increase joint flexibility, relax, improve circulation and promote a sense of wellbeing.

Aromatherapy is the use of aromatic plant oils, including essential oils for psychological and physiological benefit. Aromatherapists blend essential oils to the client's specific needs to achieve well-being.

Aromatherapy massage may help you: reduce stress & anxiety, release muscle tension, relax the body & mind, offer pain relief and improve mood.

FAQ

What does a typical reflexology session involve & how often should I have a treatment?

Upon booking, I will send you through a consultation form to fill in. This will ask you simple questions about your general health and lifestyle. This allows me to be able to tailor your treatment to your specific needs.

You will be asked to lay on my treatment couch where there are pillows and blankets available for your comfort. For a traditional foot reflexology treatment, your feet will be cleansed prior to beginning the reflexology treatment which involves gentle/medium pressure applied to the reflexes of both feet.

For facial reflexology, your face will be cleansed using cucumber wipes and facial oil will be applied to your skin, then the reflex points on your face will be precisely worked.

PLEASE NOTE: Facial reflexology is not a regular facial beauty treatment - your skin will be simply cleansed using wipes, but there is no exfoliating, steaming or face masks.

Once the session is completed, you will be offered a glass of water to hydrate and are advised to keep hydrated for the remainder of the day to aid in flushing away any excess waste released by the treatment.

How often should I have a treatment?

For general health and wellbeing, once a month is beneficial. If you are having reflexology to help support a specific need, such as menopause or poor sleep, then weekly or fortnightly sessions are recommended for 6 sessions to allow time to see the benefits. After this time, we can review how you're feeling and if happy to continue, maintenance treatments of once a month are a good idea.

What do I wear for a reflexology treatment?

Something comfortable so you can enjoy the treatment and relax. I work on your feet and up to your knees during a traditional foot reflexology treatment.

For facial reflexology, avoid wearing roll necks or anything that may restrict working on the neck area. There is privacy to change if needed.

Is there any aftercare advice for reflexology and massage?

To get the maximum benefit from your treatment, I advise the following aftercare for the rest of the day:

  • Drink plenty of water - Keep this one up every day if you can
  • Avoid strenuous exercise
  • Avoid (or limit) alcohol, caffeine and heavy meals
  • Get plenty of rest
  • Listen to your body
